THE PROCESS
What the Brand Identity journey looks like.
My brand identity design process is a series of creatively focused steps, where together, we start with a blank canvas and fill it in with your perfect brand.
1. Kickoff
Connecting
Fill out the Let’s Connect form on my contact page.
We’ll schedule a short call to meet each other, talk about the basic overview of your project and the problem you need solving, as well as answer any questions you might have.
proposal and contract
After our initial chat, I’ll send a proposal for the design package we’ve decided fits your needs. Typically:
50% payment is required to move forward.
50% payment is due after the work is completed.
For longer projects: 25% payment to move forward with a payment plan.
2. Brand Discovery
PREWORK
You will be emailed a Brand Discovery Questionnaire to get us started as this will allow you to gather thoughts and ideas down on paper. We will schedule a Discovery Meeting where we will expand on the questionnaire.
DiscoverY Workshop
For a Full Branding Package we will have a guided discovery meeting by phone or Zoom where we dive into your company, background, goals, vision, target market, and competitors. We’ll discuss your brand strategy, who your brand needs to appeal to, and what makes you stand out.
For a Basic Logo Package we will have a mini Discovery Session where we will still chat together about your company and vision for the new logo.
RESEARCH
Gathering information is a crucial step in formulating your brand. I’ll review current samples of your branding, if you have any, along with your competitors’ branding to see where we are starting from and where we need to go. Based on your Discovery Summary, I will gather reference images so we can narrow in on design style.
written discovery summary & Creative direction
After this Brand Discovery Workshop, I’ll summarize all of our findings and insights in a Discovery Summary and propose a creative direction for you to approve - this will be the guiding compass for your identity project. The summary will contain the ideas that we desire to have translated into visuals and final messaging.
3. Design
The fun begins! Once we know our direction, I will design the visual theme for your brand. I will form and design your entire theme at once to reduce disjointedness (logo, colors, fonts, shapes, images, messaging, etc.) instead of focusing in on just one design element.
Concepts are presented in a fun screen sharing “reveal” meeting, where I will explain my creative direction behind the designs.
4. Refinement
Because many decisions were laid out and discussed from the beginning to this point of the project, the proposed solutions are usually right on target. But if needed, tweaks are made to make sure it is exactly the way it needs to be.
5. Brand Guidelines & Resources
Lastly, I’ll put together your brand style guide, a key component of the project. It will include all the approved elements of your brand identity, such as: strategy, logo, typography, color palette, any icons, visual images and how to make the most of them, example layouts, social media examples, etc. This reference will keep your brand going and on track and your vendors and staff will know how to make new materials look consistent.
6. Final Artwork Source Files
And we can’t forget your brand computer files. You will receive a zipped folder of all the needed computer files you will need for print and web.
Timeframe
LOGO PACKAGE | 3-4 weeks typically.
BRAND IDENTITY PACKAGE | 4-8 weeks typically.
COLLATERAL MATERIAL | TBD timeframe based on project needs.
If collateral marketing materials are included as an add on to a package then we will add extra time on top of the above package timeframe. Please note that this timeline assumes prompt client meetings as well as client feedback.
